Back in Person in Austin

Dear Friends,

I'm so happy to announce that we'll be returning to the Austin Flea for their October show!

It's been a while since I've done a show, took the summer off, and I'm ready to get back into it for Fall and Winter. I truly hope to see all of our Austin friends there, and look forward to catching up with those of you who can make it to the Highball on Oct. 3rd.

Much of the printing this summer, when not creating wedding invitations or personalized cards to our lovely clients in NYC or SATX, has been spent printing some new designs and increasing inventory of our best-sellers for the holiday season, especially our first four-day out of town show two weeks after the Flea. My paper supply is dwindling, but the inventory closet is filling. Very excited to share the new items with you all next month.

If you're going to make it to the Flea, is there anything specific you'd like me to bring? I won't be able to bring everything with me but if there's something you'd like, please leave a comment and let me know. Can't wait to see you there!

Viva Fiesta!

The King William Fair is on Saturday and to say that we're excited about it is quite the understatement! Last year was Such Fun and I can't wait to see the San Antonio Fiestaers again.

We'll have some of last year's favorites plus our newest designs, which I can't wait to share with you! (I'd share a link but they're not even available online yet!)

I'm getting excited...

In a little over a month I'll be at the King William Fair in San Antonio! Last year it was so much fun- the parade, the shoppers, the beautiful neighborhood, hanging out with my dear, dear friend of now 23 years, and sharing my work with the celebratory Fiesta crowd.

I've started printing some new designs and have begun planning my booth set up (fun, except it takes up a bit of real estate in the house!), plus I have some new designs that I'm about to have printing plates made of- some of which I'll be displaying in my home office once printed, I'm so excited about them.

But I'm going to save them for KWF, so if you're in the central Texas area, you'll want to come out and visit (we'll be set up on Madison), and if you're not, you'll be able to see sneak peeks on instagram / facebook (@shopinviting). They'll be available online after the show. I know, big tease.  But even if they sell out at the show, they'll still be available as custom orders online. That's what's wonderful about what I do- I can always print more.

We Made It- Our Last Show of the Year

Coming up on Saturday, our final show of the year, and a perfect opportunity for some last-minute holiday shopping!

This will be our first event back at the Highball since they reopened and we're so excited! Hope to see you there. I'll have a few Sale Bins, too, so if you're looking for a great deal on stationery, definitely stop by!

Last Events of 2014

We're almost done with shows for the year! While they're fun events, they really are exhausting, so I'm looking forward to the break. (There usually aren't any shows for us in January so it's a good time to get in the studio and create new products with no immediate deadline.)

Wow! Thank You, Dallas!

Thanks so much for everyone who came out to the Jingle Bash on Saturday! It. Was. Insane.

Traffic was backed up getting there and the flow of shoppers was constant. Apparently over 900 people were counted in the first thirty minutes! With so many great vendors there though, it was easy to see why. (Un/fortunately, I didn't get to do any shopping there.)

The show organizers at EtsyDallas did a great job putting it together, and while the music was a little wonky in the room I was in, they did play a song from the Valley Girl soundtrack so that totally made up for it.

It was so fun seeing everyone, meeting new vendors, visiting with the Austin ones who came up, seeing so many smiling faces, and hearing the laughter over the popular Parking Cards. Totally worth the two hours I sat in traffic outside Waxahachie where 35 happened to be shut down. Yup, totally worth it. Dallas, I hope to see you again soon!

Road Trip Time!

Not a major road trip, but I'll be heading up to Dallas for the Jingle Bash on Saturday, and I really hope to see you DFW-area people's smiling faces!

I'll have lots of holiday cards and gift tags, our popular quotation prints for framing, newly reprinted You Suck at Parking card packs, thank you cards, and classic stationery. Looking forward to the show, seeing a bunch of new faces and meeting more fellow creatives!

Saturday Handmade Fun

Austin Craft Riot's Summer Show

It feels like this was forever ago, rather than just less than a month ago!

The ladies on the Austin Craft Riot show committee did a great job, once again. A very fun weekend filled with a fun crowd and talented vendors. Thanks to everyone who came out, and to my fellow creators, Great job!

Upcoming Event: Austin Flea on Saturday!

Saturday's looking like a hot one (95* - yuck!) so why not come out to the Austin Flea, order a cold bloody mary or iced tea, and shop local handmade & vintage vendors? It'll be lots of fun, promise.

And for live music, the 60s surf band The Boss Jaguars will start at 1; they put on a great show so I'm looking forward to hearing them again.

Since it's the day before Father's Day, we'll have our selection of cards for last minute shopping (should you be lucky enough to visit your Dad on Sunday!) and also a special going on: for every box of cards you purchase, you'll get a petite pack of stationery (3 flat cards, often with lined envelopes) for free! (Or you can buy them at the sale price of $5.)

P.s. There is talk of making the Flea a monthly event- how great will it be to know that on the first or second Saturday of every month, there will be a Flea? I'm excited. 

What are you doing in June?

We only have one show scheduled for June, but it's going to be a great one!

We'll have our Father's Day cards, in case you're seeing your Dad the next day and haven't picked out a card yet, as well as new items- a preview of our Shop Update on the 20th. And I think I'll have a sale involving our petite packs of 3, too.

Last Minute Mother's Day Shopping - Austin Flea-style

Austin shoppers get a last chance at some handmade goodies for Mother's Day gifting on Saturday. The Austin Flea is at ABGB (on West Oltorf) and it should be LOTS of fun.

We'll have Mother's Day cards, of course, and Father's Day cards, plus a selection of great gift items like matted prints for framing, boxed cards, and some of those vintage letter openers I told you about earlier.

Also, this place has really good pizza. See you there, Austin!

The Violet Crown Festival + New Things!

It was so nice visiting with those of you who came out on Saturday and braved the heat! I didn't get to run around the festival and check out the other vendors, but it looked like a good variety of creators!

Changed up the outdoor set up a bit; love the hanging pegboard!

We have one more show this month, on Saturday, and I must say, I'm looking forward to the break. Am behind on designs for this season, and have more new designs to print for the Summer Shop Update on June twentieth.

The City of the Violet Crown...

Oh My Goodness, So Much Fun! King William Fair Recap

Thank you, San Antonio, for the fun-filled Saturday. Our first show in SA was a great success and I definitely hope to be back next year!

The parade was very entertaining:

The Most Interesting Man in the World made an appearance, kind of.

He was really playing and it was just so delightful!

This man had an epic headdress.

Her outfit has the most beautiful colors! So lovely!

Not sure why, but there was a Dumb & Dumber portion.

The belly dancers put on two shows in the space next to our booth, a great crowd drawer!

It was a beautiful day, was coolingly overcast until about 2 and then the sun came out. But the shoppers were delightful and I'm in still in awe over the response to my products! As I have the Violet Crown Festival on Saturday and then the Austin Flea the Saturday after that, the next few days you can find me in the studio. : ) It's the best problem in the world.
