You Know You Want To--

I need to sit down and write a letter. Nothing major, nothing important. It’s just been a while, and if it’s been a while for me, it might have been a while for you, too.

So please, at some point today, take out some paper (bonus points if it’s a gorgeous letterpress printed card or piece of stationery), a pen or pencil, and write someone a letter. Doesn’t have to be long, or even really about anything. Just a “Hey, was thinking about you today and thought I’d check in and see how you are. Hope things are great.” Then address and stamp the envelope and get it in the mail!

It’ll probably make that person’s day. Let’s do it!

Cheers~

P.s. Did you happen to notice that you’re running low on pretty cards? If only I knew of a place… oh wait : ) Here’s a great website for stationery. (Yeah, I might be a little biased.)

Join Me on a Studio Tour

I've been planning this for a while and FINALLY got the papers tidied enough to welcome you, virtually, into my studio.

The studio is in the converted carport of our house, and previous owners seemed to have used it as storage. One chainsawed-out section of a wall and one french door installation later, and inviting moved in. There are been slight improvements since then, of course, like colorful curtains (and thermals to help with the summer heat), some white paint, some near-black paint, a place to sit, a rug (it really ties the room together) and a little feng shui thanks to my mom.

So let's go!

From the Door:

When you walk though the door off the front porch, this is what you see
You've got some type cabinets on the left, a HEAVY composing stone on the right, and Vera the press in the back right corner. The studio isn't air conditioned so near the french doors is my wee cooling unit which gets wheeled over to the window during the hot months, where it makes a difference until about noon, and then I have to call it a day. One day I'll get the place properly insulated and have a small unit installed, where that little pink shelf is.

From Vera's End

This is what you see when standing near the black composing stand. The front door, little seating area for tea, taking phone calls while I'm working, and instagramming. (Sometimes Hobo Cat #3 sits there- he'll come in and watch me work). The composing stone, with all it's wonderful wooden tools, is from the San Jacinto College, which is where I took some art classes as a kid- small world! On it are three boxes of printing plates. There's also a little space heater, and some display items for craft shows by the window.

And this is standing next to Vera. You can see more of the type cabinets and paper storage drawers. I'm always envious of printers who have their press next to a window for the natural light, but that corner has a tendency to flood on really heavy rain days (not a lot, but two of those cabinets are up on bricks for a reason), plus, the outlets are on the opposite wall.

From the Window area

Here's Vera, our lovely, green, small, beast of a press. She's a Chandler & Price New Style platen press, 8x12. There are some folding tables near her for any shows that I do, or if I need extra work space in the house or office, our inks, the mirror that previous owners up had which is convenient for looking out the window without having to stop printing, my little A/V spot for watching netflix or listening to pandora, and cleaning/maintenance supplies and tools.

So that is my little studio. It smells of metal, wood, ink and oil (trust me, it's wonderful), the flooring is cool, ceilings are high (and therefor not painted yet), and it is a happy little corner where I am thrilled to spend time printing lovelies for you. It's not much, but I love it. What do you think? Is it what you imagined my small printing studio to look like?

Did you miss it? Our spring collection:

Hello Friends!

Thank you for the wonderful feedback on this Spring Collection! It’s a little bit fun, a little bit prim, and a little bit punky.

Did you miss the release? Here it is!

This is one of the new stationery suites offered. The royal blue ink is pulled from some details of the envelope linings:

I’m starting the brainstorming and sketching portion of the Summer Collection shortly, so if you have any requests for certain cards or stationery, please let me know and I’ll see what I can do to get them worked in.

Thank you for all you support! As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask
Cheers,

Ashley

Galentines or Valentines, We've Got Your Cards!

Hello Friends!

A couple of dates for your radar:
                February 14 – Valentine’s Day
                February 13 – Galentine’s Day

Okay, so the second one isn’t an official holiday, but if either one of those has you thinking that you should order a gorgeous letterpress printed card for the occasion, now’s a great time. The post office sometimes takes their sweet time delivering packages, and you’d hate to be without a card, especially if you have to mail it somewhere else after you receive it, so best not to delay.

Click here to see the cards I think would be suitable for either date.

And in case you missed it in our latest release, this year’s Valentine’s Day design is:

I hope you find something that speaks to you and is perfect for your sweetie or friend. Happy shopping and thank you for all your support.

Cheers!

Just Released - Our Spring Collection!

Greetings from Texas, where we had all four seasons in a two-week period. This is a crazy time for me- I’m training for my first belt test in krav maga (on Saturday!) and I’ve really had to push myself to get this collection done in time. I set the release schedule in the fall, and it doesn’t matter if no one else would know that I missed it, I would know, so it had to get done. And it is complete and ready to share with you!

Letterpress personalized stationery set by inviting, in copper ink.

As I mentioned in an earlier email this month, creating personalized stationery sets is my favorite, so this collection we have three styles available. The personalized stationery has the option for the fancy envelope linings you saw earlier, too. There isn’t a huge quantity of those papers, so it’s capped at one order of 25 per style. Unlined envelopes have much greater quantities available.

For pre-printed and ready to ship options, each set has corresponding thank you cards, in both folded and flat styles.

I also created a card for Valentine’s Day, a couple of boxed stationery designs, and a birthday card.

Happy shopping and thanks for all your support and encouragement!

Newly Reduced!

I'll keep this short and sweet, since I'm working on the Spring Collection. You knew this was coming and it happened- more items have been added to our clearance section. Plus, many others that were already in there have been further reduced!

This is the perfect chance to snatch up those boxes of stationery that you've been eyeing or, even better?, get a head start on your gift buying for 2017.

Back to work I go... Happy shopping!

Cheers,
Ashley

New Year, New Plans!

And a very happy new year to you! I hope that your celebration(s) were as festive as you desired. We spent a few days between Christmas and New Year at the beach, and it's wonderful to get away and recharge for a bit. But now it's back to work for us all, and I still have a few designs to complete for the Spring Collection, due later this month.

This year, I originally planned to increase my wholesale efforts, but after some soul searching of sorts, and seeing just how overwhelmingly large the stationery wholesale competition is, and what is selling in that world, I'm going to hold off on that strong push for a while and focus on what makes me happy. I'm not one to chase trends, and the styles that I see the most at retailers, while something I'll happily buy on occasion, it just isn't what I want to create even though it would sell.

I'll still design greeting cards, because we all need those!, but they'll stay in line with inviting's style. My favorite items to create are personalized stationery sets, and I love the giftability of them. When I graduated from high school, a woman I worked with gave me a set of 4bar folded cards, with my name in a blue, raised script. They were so much nicer than the set that came with my graduation announcements! And now, in my thirties, I still believe that personalized cards make a great gift, for yourself or to actually give to someone, and that no one's stationery drawer/box/shelf/wherever is complete without a set of their own. All that to say, expect to see a lot of personalized stationery presented this year. I hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am!

Selecting the envelope color best for each liner. That was fun!

We've got some great things coming up this month, stay tuned!

Cheers,
Ashley

Newly Released: Winter Collection

This collection was mostly inspired by the soft greenery sticking around in fall and winter. Not the hardy sprigs of holly, but the softer greens. It's a much calmer, less chaotic collection than our fall collection.

Another Popular Month for Birthdays

Don't know about your circle, but mine has the most birthdays in July and August. So many cards have gone out lately! Good thing I've stocked up on postage stamps. Love the way the orange of the Nevada stamps (a favorite of mine) matches the orange in these whimsical birthday cards.
