Oh My Goodness, So Much Fun! King William Fair Recap

Thank you, San Antonio, for the fun-filled Saturday. Our first show in SA was a great success and I definitely hope to be back next year!

The parade was very entertaining:

The Most Interesting Man in the World made an appearance, kind of.

He was really playing and it was just so delightful!

This man had an epic headdress.

Her outfit has the most beautiful colors! So lovely!

Not sure why, but there was a Dumb & Dumber portion.

The belly dancers put on two shows in the space next to our booth, a great crowd drawer!

It was a beautiful day, was coolingly overcast until about 2 and then the sun came out. But the shoppers were delightful and I'm in still in awe over the response to my products! As I have the Violet Crown Festival on Saturday and then the Austin Flea the Saturday after that, the next few days you can find me in the studio. : ) It's the best problem in the world.

Fresh New Looks

I purchased a new light box for product photography last week, and spent the weekend taking photos for the shop. Previously I used one made by a friend out of a large cardboard box and freezer paper, which worked, but this one is smaller, came with lights and backdrops, and I'm loving it!

Also purchased some fancy papers to use as backdrops, as shown in the picture, but used the black velour one that came with the kit for our portfolio pictures:

Pink & Gold Glamour

So... I'm a little behind in printing projects, but only because I've spent the last two weekends printing these awesome wedding invitations! (The only other acceptable excuse would be "because I'm vacationing in Paris/Edinburgh/the beach for a month.")

The bride, Ms Phantastic, provided the design and papers, a bold raspberry card stock and bright white cotton Lettra. I printed the design with the transparent white ink (clear) so the naked impression is just a little more noticeable. The belly band was also edged in gold paint (my new favorite thing!) Once Ms Phantastic got the invitations back, she rubber stamped their names and embossed in gold. AWESOME! Check out these pictures from the instagram feed:

Then this weekend I printed menus, food tent cards, and program covers. The program covers are so pretty, and yup, you guessed it, edged in gold. LOVE.

They turned out so nice, I can't wait to see photos of the finished booklets.

Weekend Work

Saturday was such a nice day. The morning was spent in the print shop, printing 2 of the 3 colors for our business cards, and throwing in some pink frogs for fun:

Worked briefly in the garden, pulling TWO red tomatoes off the plant- very exciting:

And spent much of the rest of the weekend watching movies with T & working on a cross-stitch project.

For the dressing room, assuming I ever finish it.

Don't forget about the Craft Party on Saturday! Bring a blank shirt and you can get it screen-printed, too.

Weekend Work: Birthdays & Crowns

Saturdays are usually spent in the print room but I hosted a clothing swap party that night so printing didn't start until Sunday- makes for  hectic Sunday, but it was worth it!

Our first May event is next Saturday, the Violet Crown Festival. And so why not make some violet crown cards?

And we've been out of birthday cards for a LONG TIME. Using the same design from a Mother's Day card, now we have some! Dark purple bubbly background with our Mod text box. Fun. 

Still working on building up our inventory for the Flea (on the 12th) and Renegade (the 19th-20th). If there's anything you'd like to see, please let us know.

Weekend Work: Mostly for Moms

The latest plate arrived and on it were our Mother's Day designs for this year!

On Thursday I attended a lunch hosted by Clampitt & Neenah Paper. Neenah makes the Crane Lettra paper that we use on so many of our projects and wedding, and they've just started making a 90lb paper! We usually use the 110lb which are great for flat cards but a little thick for folded cards, so I'm quite thrilled by this news. Now if we can get them to start making some pale pink, blue and gray papers...

Weekend Work: Orange & Black & Purring

Saturday was cool, breezy and cloudy- a perfect day to print! Had the doors and window open in the studio, the ipad streaming some netflix, and two stray kittens to visit me.

They're cute as hell, but I don't think either of them can set type or oil the press so... yeah.
If anyone's interested in adopting them, let me know! I'm sure their "owner" will be happy to get them homes. He's not very responsible i.m.o.  I think they're both girls, and they're very sweet, quiet, and like to be pet. Awwww...

Our Angry Kitties are pretty popular at shows- 4bar cards, all different colored card stocks, and people get to pick their card colors and envelope colors. Thought I might try my butterfly ladies like that, too. (If you look closely, you can see the body of the butterfly is a lady.)

These flourishes are so elegant, but then I go and print them in the ever so Austin-friendly "burnt orange." Now it's got more of a 'casual elegance' to it. Paired them with orange and purple envelopes. Don't know about you, but i love orange with purple. 

Some friends got married in January (you can see their invitations HERE) and they need some more cards for thank you notes. This is a re-order of cards made for them last year. Orange is D's "signature color."

Made these for an upcoming show, the Violet Crown Festival (haha, almost typed "Violet Crown Affair"). The park where it takes place is in the middle of this zip code, and since it's a big neighborhood event, it only made sense.

Next weekend I'll be printing some purple, and also some custom cards. Should be a good day- cross your fingers for some nice printing-weather. I'm so not ready for the Texas heat! Even with the little A/C unit, it's still too hot in the studio. In the summer, it's really a good thing that I'm a morning person so I can get things done before the sun gets too high.
